Land is of fundamental importance for the realization of several rights under the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ESC-rights). In its General Comment No. 26, the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights specifies the State obligations to respect, protect and fulfil the Covenant rights in relation to land. This paper summarizes this General Comment.
