Monitoring

Germany has ratified numerous international and European human rights treaties and signed into law the individual rights and obligations of the state that arise from them. In combination with the fundamental rights guaranteed by German Basic Law, they lay the foundation for the protection of human rights in Germany.

Via its contributions to reports and statements for courts of law in Germany, the German Institute for Human Rights helps ensure that the human rights of all people in Germany are actually respected and put into practice.

Monitoring

An important task of national human rights institutions is to report on the human rights situation in their own country. The German Institute for Human Rights regularly reports to national and international bodies on the human rights situation in Germany.
