Economic, social and cultural rights, are enshrined, inter alia, in the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and the Revised European Social Charter. In the spirit of the indivisibility of human rights, they complement civil and political rights and ensure non-discriminatory access to essential services, including to health care, education, housing, work, water and sanitation, and other key areas of life. Economic, social and cultural rights thus guarantee a life in dignity for all.

Key concerns

  • Adopting a human rights-based approach to tackling poverty in Germany.
  • Ensuring a decent life for everyone in Germany.
  • Ensuring non-discriminatory access to adequate housing.
  • Ensuring non-discriminatory access to education.
