Dr. Eleanor Benz, Researcher and Policy Adviser

Dr. iur. Eleanor Benz is a lawyer and has been a researcher and policy adviser at the National CRC Monitoring Mechanism at the German Institute for Human Rights since March 2025. She studied law in Heidelberg and Santiago de Chile, specializing in international law. She then worked as a research assistant at the University of Potsdam, where she also completed her doctorate with a thesis on the advisory function of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. She completed her legal clerkship at the Kammergericht Berlin with stations at the Federal Chancellery, in a law firm specialized in public law and at the German Embassy in Accra, Ghana.
