A parent’s incarceration has an enormous impact on the life of a child. Maintaining contact with an incarcerated parent is a human right that the state is obligated to uphold, respect and ensure through legislation. In 2023, the CRC Monitoring Mechanism carried out an online survey total of 164 prisons (JVA: Justizvollzugsanstalten). The survey results are presented in this summary.
