The objective of the mission was to assess German development cooperation (GDC) with Kenya in the water sector from a human rights perspective. Therefore the main basis for this report is the right to water and sanitation as established in international law and policy.
The mission made 28 recommendations. These recommendations, and the analysis on which they are based, are intended to catalyse – rather than attempt to settle - debate on how to best realise the right to water and sanitation in Kenya. It is the hope of this mission that these recommendations can be discussed and refined by GDC and its partners, in particular Government of Kenya institutions and civil society.
