Why German development cooperation needs a human rights complaints mechanism

The policy paper calls for the establishment of a complaints mechanism for bilateral development cooperation. This would enable people in partner countries of German development cooperation who believe that their rights have been impaired by projects supported by Germany to turn to an independent body here in Germany. This body would review their complaints on the basis of human rights standards.
